Je suis blessé
or as they Irish put it 'Feck!'. I've spent weeks trying to build up the energy and enthusiasm that is required of a virgin London marathon runner to get off my ass and get out and run 4/5 times a week. I finally thought I was getting to grips with it - putting in a good 8 miler on sunday but alas one step forward and two steps back. :(
Last week I mentioned that my left foot was at me, unfortunately things have not improved since, so yesterday I went and got it checked out. 'A pulled ligament, rest for 3/4 days, take anti-inflammatory painkillers like ibuprofen and see how it is then' is the response I got.
Normally I would jump at the opportunity of not having to drag myself out for a 4/5 mile run in the freezing cold after staring at a computer screen for 11 hours or so. But I can't help but feel abit pissed off. Although having said that I know that it's better to rest now than have to face this a few weeks/mmonths from now.
So the sitting and waiting begins...
In the mean time I get a chance to focus more on my fundraising and I've also added a forum to my blog (see right hand side) where you can post ideas about races/fundraising etc

Did you see a Physio or GP?
Reason I ask - I had a ligament strain a while back and saw a decent Physio (had to pay for it of course) who gave me exercises and stuff to do. Was up and running again in a couple of weeks - but had spent nearly 6 weeks resting and Ibuprofening before that - with NO improvement.
Only GP...but gave me the name of a place in Convent Garden (school of reflexology) and yup they said it could cost a bit. Will see how the few days rest go and then I'll take action after.
Oh damn - having had a strained tendon in my foot last Jan that saw me off for 6wks and no FLM I can only advise to see a physio soon rather than later
no improvement in 2-3 days get booked in
it's worth it
I left it too late ... I carried on running until my long run failed at 1mile and I limped home crying (that mile took 30mins+)
take care
